Neuberger Berman Senior Private Equity Accountant in Boston, Massachusetts


The Alternatives Finance Group acts as an intermediary between the private equity portfolio managers and external vendors including the fund administrators, audit, and tax professionals. This position will have primary responsibility of assisting in all aspects of operations for various private equity funds across the Neuberger Berman platform as well as providing oversight to the fund administrators in the process of recording/reconciling of transactions. In addition, the private equity finance professional will assist in the preparation of historical investment performance analysis, financial statements, and reports. Private Equity is a rapidly growing group within Neuberger Berman with over $70 billion of assets under management across our private investment partnerships, secondary investments, co-investment and other private investment areas.


  • Daily:

  • Day to day oversight of the fund administrators

  • Reviewing and approving cash disbursements

  • Assessing cash needs based on projected activity

  • Reviewing and approving capital call and distribution allocations and notices

  • Facilitate the receipt and review of incoming expenses for the various funds

  • Providing data and ad hoc reports to senior management and the investment team, as needed

  • Provide support to other functional groups within the firm including Investor Relations, Legal and Compliance, and Corporate Accounting

  • Quarterly:

  • Provide oversight including the review and approval of deliverables prepared by fund administrators including; quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, capital calls and distribution notices

  • Review management fee and carried interest calculations

  • Review partnership and fund IRRs

  • Review valuations of investments including partnerships, secondaries, and co-investments

  • Assist with SEC or other regulatory compliance as requested

  • Annually:

  • Interface directly with the external auditors and tax professionals to manage the process of completing annual audits, tax returns and the distribution of K-1s and 1099s


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred

  • Knowledge of partnership accounting, financial reporting, and experience with tax reporting is a plus

  • 3-5 years of public accounting experience with a focus in private equity

  • Experience with SEC registered products a plus

  • Qualified candidates will have strong time management and communication skills, be able to demonstrate critical thinking and able to work both independently and as part of team
