Neuberger Berman Client Advisor in Chicago, Illinois

Summary

The Vice President, Institutional Client Advisor (CA) will work independently and closely with the Managing Director, Client Advisor on a large market territory. The CA’s objective is to better penetrate this large territory through business development activities (prospecting, and cross-selling).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with others on the team (and in some cases lead) day-to-day new business development and client coverage action items to ensure team goals are met. Tasks may involve direct client prospecting, responding to client requests, meeting follow ups and preparation, territory management, and product / client targeting.

  • Expand relationships with larger clients / prospects with multiple touch points (e.g. multiple product heads) as well as prospecting new relationships with smaller clients in territory.

  • Assist in creating sales presentations by gathering various product and firm information and assisting with the generation of new materials specific to client / prospect interests, etc.

  • Support the team with client and prospect contact management, including CRM maintenance.

  • Assist with new business pipeline updates and other internal reporting updates.

  • Liaise and establish strong relationships with internal investment teams.

  • Support the RMs in the coordination and production of RFPs. Responsibilities include liaising with the RFP team and ensuring RFP deadlines and requirements are met.

  • Participate in team projects to enhance client coverage strategy and execution.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of direct institutional sales experience from the buy-side and/or sell-side.

  • Experience covering “real money” clients, such as pension, endowments/foundations and/or insurance companies is preferred but not required.

  • Sophisticated in markets and covering complex clients.

  • Knowledge of portfolio construction and role in portfolios of various asset classes.

  • Knowledge of multiple asset classes is preferred; exhibits high degree of interest in financial. markets and investment strategy; interest in expanding knowledge across a range of asset classes.

  • Strong achievement in undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or related disciplines.

  • MBA is plus but not required.

  • Highly motivated team-player with a desire to work on a wide range of projects, using multiple systems.

  • Ability to work well with different individuals and contacts of all levels of the business in a high-pressure environment.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow up skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Onenote and other tools such as evestment.

  • Series 7 & 66 licenses required.
