Neuberger Berman NB Private Markets Secondary Product Specialist in New York, New York

The team is seeking a mid-level (VP or higher) team member dedicated to the secondary strategy, to act as both a product specialist and investor relations professional, managing non-investment activities for the team. The individual will work closely with the investment, marketing, sales, legal, finance and operations teams to meet the needs of investors and prospects. The individual will be a member of the secondary team, reporting directly to the Head of Secondary, and have a wide scope of responsibilities as outlined below.

Product Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Establish fundraising plan in coordination with investment and sales teams

  • Help determine launch plan (i.e., first close discount, timing)

  • Create all marketing materials

  • Collaborate with sales on identifying list of prospects; both re-up and new investors across distribution channels

  • Serve as a resource for the broader Neuberger Berman sales teams for secondary related matters

  • Liaise with third party fundraising placement agents

  • Respond to requests for proposals (“RfPs”), manage prospect follow-ups, as well as answer client / prospect inquiries

  • Responsible for managing process as fundraising manager

  • Coordinate or participate in meetings to alleviate burden on investment team and ensure follow-up materials are provided

  • Provide sales with tools that they need, such as content, customized materials and education of the product

  • Handle logistics related to closing including coordination with sales, legal, subscription and clients

  • Manage investment data

  • Track and maintain database for secondary investments

  • Provide performance analysis, such as breaking down performance by various categories

Investor Relations Responsibilities:

  • Focus on client outreach

  • Coordinate with the investment team to update existing clients on a regular basis providing portfolio and market updates (providing continuity for investors, even if there is turnover in sales)

  • Work closely with sales to have a pulse on each client and be prepared to prime them for next fundraise

  • Focus on smaller accounts such as intermediary and HNW to alleviate burden on investment team

  • Provide client solutions and positive client experience

  • Ensure “touchpoints” (white papers, market updates) are being presented our clients ensuring the NB value-add

  • Identifying areas where we can be a resource to clients


  • Undergraduate degree in economics or finance;

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience (i.e., experience with investment banking, secondary firm, placement agent or consulting);

  • Excellent academic credentials;

  • Ability to multi-task, team-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects and manage them effectively;

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Remarkable attention to detail;

  • Strong judgment, maturity and critical thinking skills;

  • Excellent communication, and ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form;

  • Initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving and to be resourceful;

  • Exhibits strong dedication to the job and takes ownership of deliverables;

  • Ability to move quickly up the learning curve.
