Neuberger Berman Senior Associate (Post-MBA), Secondary Private Equity in New York, New York


NB Private Equity is a leading private equity platform within Neuberger Berman with over $80 billion of investor commitments. The platform continues to grow rapidly and is actively investing. The Senior Associate will work as part of NB’s global Secondary Private Equity team, which manages over $14 billion of investor commitments. With a global investment mandate, our funds seek to invest over $1 billion per annum across a wide range of secondary private equity opportunities including complex GP-led transaction, traditional LP interest acquisitions and other direct investments arising from unique situations.


The position provides an opportunity to work in a leading private equity platform in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with constant interaction with the most senior members of the team. The role is based in New York and offers an exciting opportunity to be part of NB’s fast growing secondary platform. As part of a deal team, the Senior Associate will gain a broad experience and contribute to every aspect of our investment cycle. Key responsibilities include:

  • Screening and conducting due diligence on secondary private equity investment opportunities

  • Performing in-depth research and financial analysis on companies and assets from various stages, sectors, and geographies

  • Preparation of due diligence materials, screening and investment committee memos

  • Interacting with external parties, such as industry experts and investment bankers, as well as with other areas of the firm internally, to enhance due diligence insights and identify new opportunities

  • Monitoring and reporting on firm’s existing investments through regular interaction with fund managers, attending annual meetings of private equity firms, reviewing quarterly financials, and performing portfolio analysis

  • Supporting the private equity marketing team with investor relations and communication


  • Targeting current or recent MBA graduates

  • Excellent academic credentials and GPA (both undergraduate school and MBA)

  • At least 4 years of professional experience in top-tier investment banking and/or private equity. Buyside experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong judgment, critical thinking and written skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form

  • Show initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving; demonstrated experience in conducting research and interacting with others to develop solutions

  • Ability to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detail

  • Team-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects
